Camera phones and digital cameras have made it possible to capture memorable moments with ease. With so many more photos being taken, people need a place to edit, store and share them. While external storage is always an option, it is not conducive to sharing and editing. People want an easily accessible spot to safely store their pics. Not surprisingly, photo storage sites have been on the rise. These sites provide users a place to store and share their photos. Recently, Adobe decided to launch its version of photo storage with Adobe Carousel.
How the Carousel Works
Adobe Carousel is a cloud-based library for photos. The app can be installed on various devices and anytime a picture is added to the library, the change is synced across all devices. For instance, if you take a picture with your iPhone and add it to one of your carousels, you can access the same picture on your desktop at home. Your original pictures will still be on your device and your carousel will contain a full-resolution copy.
You can also edit your photos in a variety of ways, including cropping and applying filters – all within Adobe Carousel. The built-in share feature makes it easy to share to social sites, such as Facebook. Sharing your photos to other people is also easy – each carousel can be shared with up to five people and they do not have to be a subscriber to the service to view the shared photos.
Pricing and Compatibility
Adobe Carousel will only support Apple products right now. It is compatible with Macs, iPhones and iPads. However, Windows and Android support is in the works. The app will soon be available in the Mac App store and iTunes. Users will get a free, 30-day trial and the introductory pricing is set at $5.99/month or $59.99/year. Since that pricing is only introductory, you can expect pricing to increase to $9.99/month and $99/year. However, the price is still fair since users can install Carousel on as many devices as they want and create up to five, different carousels with an unlimited amount of storage space.
The success of Adobe Carousel remains to be seen – but with unlimited storage space, editing features and a reasonable price, it could feasibly become a success. People like editing, sharing and storing their photos with ease and Carousel seems to have those points covered. More will be revealed about the particulars of the service when it is officially released.
