Cloud ExperienceWhen you hear the word “online backup services”, you probably think of the heavy-hitters in the game. Services such as Carbonite, SugarSync, and Mozy are just a few of the major online backup service providers.

Online backup services are becoming more popular because people recognize the convenience the services offer. Users can backup their computers and synchronize with other devices, like mobile phones. This makes it easy to access files from just about anywhere. Automated backups also make it easy to protect your precious data in case something ever happens to your computer.

And In This Corner…

A new player has entered the online backup industry and they are not wasting any time. Cloud Experience, also known as CX, is making quite the splash in the world of online backup services. One of the more unique features of this service is the whopping 10GB of free storage you get when you sign up for the free account. The only thing you have to put up with is advertisements on your CX dashboard. However, the ads seem to be unobtrusive and don’t interfere with the overall user experience.

The Specs on Pricing and Compatibility

Since CX is still in beta, the paid portions are not yet available, but they also look promising. The 30GB Consumer Plus plan is $9.95/month and the 100GB Developer Pro plan is $39.95/month. Compared to some of the cheaper backup services, these prices may seem high, but many average users will find the 10GB free plan sufficient for their needs. Cloud Experience also encourages users with specific needs to contact them, implying that custom plans can be arranged.

Compatibility is a strong feature for CX, too. The service is compatible with Windows, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Blackberry, and Android. With all of that compatibility, Cloud Experience continues to have other compatible platforms in the works.

Synchronization, Sharing and Security

Cloud Experience appears to have been taking notes on the features consumers appreciate. The backup service syncs files in real-time – as the user makes changes, the stored file is also changed. File sharing is also encouraged with “Group Clouds”, groups that each user can create for their account. Files can be shared within the group and all changes are automatically synced. CX provides an acceptable level of security. Transfers are done through 2048-bit SSL connections. The data is broken up into small, encrypted pieces to ensure that it can’t be read without logging into your account. The site also makes it a point to state that “CX employees and programmers cannot view your files or any of your data”.

Overall, Cloud Experience appears to be a promising contender in the battle of the backup services. Their generous free account is sure to get many users hooked, along with the user-friendly dashboard. Once CX comes out of beta and launches their paid plans, they have a good chance of becoming one of the heavy-hitters in online backup services.

Good review – there are a few recent changes though:
    You get
2GB of space with the FREE version, but now there is no restriction to
the number of computers you can sync/backup (from 2). It gives you the ability to upload and sync any folder on your computer. On the Free version the upload/download is faster than when reviewed
    Also
if you use the below referral code you get 500MB extra on top of the
Free 2GB or 16GB extra on any of the paid-for services!
