Mozy App for iOS Launches: Your Backed Up Files Just an App Away

While it’s leading competitor, Carbonite online backup, has had an app out for a while, Mozy just released their app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch on Tuesday. This is a welcome addition to the MozyHome online backup service.

MozyHome customers will now be able to view all their backed up files from all of their backed up computers in one application. Users will also be able to search through their files from the application and will be able to publish photos directly to Facebook and email files.

So far the Mozy app for iOS has gotten great reviews. At the time of this writing, it has a 4 1/2 star rating. The only negative review was from someone who pointed out that the app only works for MozyHome customers that use the Mozy encryption key. If you use your own encryption key, the app won’t work so if you want to use this app be sure you don’t use your own encryption key.

Take a look at some screenshots…it’s a pretty simple (but useful) app:

There will also be a Mozy app for Android. According to Mozy, it is “still in the works” and will be released to the public very soon. However, when you go to Mozy’s website it says the Mozy app for Android is available – with a link to the Android market. At the time of this writing, there have only been a handful of installs and only a couple reviews so it is likely still in beta.

Either way, the announcement of these apps will be a welcome feature for MozyHome customers. If you’re not a customer of Mozy, I have been able to secure an exclusive 15% discount for new customers. Just sign up for a paid plan at Mozy.com and use the promo code, MOBILE, when you checkout!
